LONG DELAY

When an air carrier reasonably expects that in relation to its scheduled time of departure a flight will be delayed for two hours or more or there is a delay of such period of time, it is required to:

In delays of more than four hours, if your trip is no longer justified or you decide not to travel, you can request a refund of the cost of the ticket within seven days, the total purchase price of the ticket for the part or parts of the journey not made, or for the part or parts of the journey already made ​​if the flight is no longer necessary in relation to your original travel plan, and additionally, where relevant, a return flight to the first point of departure.

Remark - In the event of self-assistance, you must request and keep receipts for the costs of meals/accommodation/transport in order to request reimbursement from the airline.

According to articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Decree-law nº 35/2006, of 26 June, which establishes passenger’s rights in case of denied boarding against their will, flight delay and cancellation, and creates the respective penalties regime.
